Emma Funnell is the matriarch of Bramble House, built for her as a wedding gift. Now in her seventies, with the avowed intent of living to be a hundred, she continues to rule the roost, as she has always done. Besides herself, three generations of the Funnell family live under the same roof -- all of them women.
