Jenny, the orphan from Australia, comes to live with her four delightful aunts in a New Zealand country town, and together they play out a comedy of domesticity and romance, with the help or hindrance of a varied and fascinating company of friends and relations. We see events through the child's eyes as the aunts struggle with the fashions of the nineteen-twenties and as they deal with their beaux and the commercial world.
